The Sunrise Shack at Inamura-gasaki in Kamakura is a cozy seaside cafe that attracts an early morning crowd looking for a healthy, laid-back start to the day. Its compact space fills quickly, especially with visitors eager to grab the limited window seats that frame a direct view of the busy coastal road and the surfers beyond. This spot stands out for blending beachside vibe with simple, refreshing fare like acai bowls, smoothie bowls, and coconut-infused coffee.

Locals and travelers alike come here not just for a caffeine fix but to settle in with a slow breakfast or light lunch while enjoying the ocean scenery. The patio seating offers a relaxed place to watch trains pass on the track just outside, a small but charming rhythm linked to the nearby neighborhoods and beach activities. Despite the small size, the café manages to feel warm and inviting, supported by attentive staff who speak a bit of English, easing the experience for non-Japanese speakers.

Morning is clearly the best time to visit when the crowd is mainly surfers, swimmers, and early risers grabbing healthier options before the day fully kicks in. The menu leans heavily on fresh, wholesome ingredients—acai bowls and the avocado toast come highly recommended, as does the coconut coffee, which adds a subtle tropical note that complements the coastal setting.

In short, The Sunrise Shack serves as a casual pit stop for those who want simple, nourishing food paired with ocean views and a chance to soak in the morning calm before Kamakura’s day crowds arrive. It is especially fitting for visitors who appreciate a slower start by the sea and enjoy watching the neighborhood come alive at dawn.

The drinks came with coconut flavor it was nice and refreshing. U have to find your own seat first before ordering, it was quite full since everyone wants a window seat.

First of all, the service was excellent. The coffee was really noce and the acai bowl the best I had during my stay in Japan. The place is small but has a wonderful atmosphere and comfortable seating. Highly recommend!

I didn’t know that a simple banana toast with peanut butter could be so delicious! I originally planned to have breakfast at yoridodoro but the place was already packed at 7:15. So I only ordered a cup of coffee and had it on the patio while watching the train came and went on the track in front of the store. Afterwards, I ventured out towards the seaside and found this cafe open. Got to pick any seat I want and enjoyed my toast with a wonderful ocean view. Highly recommend this for anyone who wants a light breakfast.

Awesome early morning Acai bowl along the coast in Kamakura watching (unfortunately too much) traffic along the busy coastal road, but divers, swimmers & surfers in the water just beyond - grateful the sunrise shack is open for us early risers to get a healthy start to the day!

On a cold winter evening, we got off the tram and walked to the seaside, discovering a cozy café by the water. With a steaming cup of hot coffee in hand, we watched the sunset paint the sky in beautiful hues. The peaceful moment, paired with the warmth of the coffee, made for an unforgettable experience. It was the perfect ending to our day and a highlight of our trip.
